Bicycle Tour in Specially Protected Natural Area “Pribuzhskoye Polesie Republican Reserve” to Be Held on September, 4

The event was organized by the project "Supporting the Transition to a Green Economy in the Republic of Belarus" funded by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme together with Specially Protected Natural Area "Pribuzhskoye Polesie Republican Reserve" with the support of Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Protection of the Republic of Belarus and Brest Regional Committee of Natural Resources and Environment Protection.
In frame of the bicycle tour ecological tourism followers and all people interested in this event will be able to ride on bicycle and see cultural, historical, and natural sights of Specially Protected Natural Area "Pribuzhskoye Polesie Republican Reserve", and to visit ecological path of Reserve.

"Work with international organizations under ecological tourism development is one of the main directions of Specially Protected Natural Area "Pribuzhskoye Polesie Republican Reserve" activity. This year in frame of this cooperation project "Supporting the Transition to a Green Economy in the Republic of Belarus" delivered the equipment for ecological tourism (bicycles, kayaks, et.c.). This equipment we will be able to use during the event. Bicycle tour is a wonderful chance for us to show all our potential and capabilities that we can offer to tourists. We hope that such events will be held on the regular basis,"commented Valeri Prokopyuk, Head of Specially Protected Natural Area "Pribuzhskoye Polesie Republican Reserve".
The main aim of this action is popularization of ecological tourism and demonstration of concrete results from cooperation of international organizations and State bodies of the Republic of Belarus.

"In frame of the project implementation it is planned to create ecological informational center on the basis of Specially Protected Natural Area "Pribuzhskoye Polesie Republican Reserve". The main aim of the ecological center will be awareness raising among local community on ecological tourism development. The Project will also prepare interactive informational materials for installation in ecological informational center," told Volha Chabrouskaya, Project Manager of the project "Supporting the Transition to a Green Economy in the Republic of Belarus" funded by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme.

910 higher vascular plant species, 44 species of rare and protected plants and fungus listed in Red Book of the Republic of Belarus were detected on the territory of Reserve. Biosphere reserve fauna is represented by 40 species of fish, 13 species of amphibians, 7 species of reptiles, 238 species of birds, 62 species of mammals (more than on any other specially protected natural area in the Republic of Belarus) and more than 18 thousand species of invertebrates. Biosphere reserve "Pribuzhskoye Polesie" is Belarussian part of international cross-border Biosphere reserve "Western Polesie". This is the fourth in the world and the second in Europe trilateral (created with the participation of three countries) specially protected area (from September, 2012).
